Thankfulness and Love for Yourself. These two ideas are intertwined.
Thankfulness:
I don’t know about y’all but I put so much pressure on myself to succeed in life for my family, for myself, and frankly for my insecurities. You know you come out thinking you have to live up to what you did, what people expect, and what you expect of yourself that you never have time to breathe. Holding ourselves to expectations is in no way a bad thing, neither is having goals and striving your hardest to achieve them. But what are these pressure really that we face every day? Let’s be real they are pressures to show OTHER PEOPLE how successful we are, how put together our lives are, and how we are not behind our peers in life. That’s no way to live… To live life on the will of another is too wasteful of life. We want the quick win or the good grade to show, “Ha, I have my life together” “I’m making people proud”. These things, in essence, are not wrong but the pressure we put on is rooted in weakness. A weakness of mind and weakness of confidence in oneself. All these pressures to accomplish big things for our ego or the ego of others clouds the vision of what’s really important. We go 1000000 miles per hour in life trying to accomplish this, and finish that, that we never actually see what we have right in front of our faces. The family we have, the friends we have, the faith, the health, the youth. If your parents were deceased would you trade all you had for a second with them? You would. Chase dreams and help out your family but don’t do it at a cost to your family or yourself. How do you do that if along the way the things you are fighting to help are sidelined? You don’t. Cherish what you haveeeeeeeeee and actually think about them, experience joy, CONTEXTUALIZE your life.
What I like to do is sit in silence for 15 minutes don’t “I DoN’t HaVe 15 MiNuTeS” me
shut cho dumbass up. And that’s all, its beneficial don’t worry. Declutter your mind, too many things run through that hoe.
Moral of the story: (Sorry for jumping around)
Strive for those goals! But keep in mind what you are chasing those goals for? For yourself and for your family. That’s what it is, so why at this point in life is the goal only on your mind? Succeeding is great, but if you lose perspective of what you’re succeeding for, then that shit is pointless.
be thankfullllll for what you already have, what u want? Unless you are ranked 7 billion in the world then you have something to be thankful for. Think about: your family (individually), your faith, your health, your environment, and friends. Dude don’t just read it and be like “oh ok” think about it for real, in the 15 min exercise.
Value your opinion of YOURSELF over other people’s opinion of YOU. you know how short life is? The opinions of others if you let it fester will hinder you from experiences the real joys of life on your own terms. How can you let someone else live YOUR life. I mean at the end of the day you gonna be dead so wouldn’t you want to live your life according to your own design. That’s off topic but we always try to meet materialistic standards of someone else that we forget to be thankful for what we already have, so sit back, fuck the standards, and speak what you’re thankful for.
Love for Yourself:
Man have a deep love for yourself. LOVE yourself unconditionally and hold yourself to the SAME standard you hold other people (damn yall must be tired of these loud ass words but oh well). Why are our standards of ourselves so much more strict than our standards of others. Why don’t we get a pass when we do something wrong in our mind but give hella passes to other people. Treat yourself the same because you’re human.
That’s not the main thing though … Simply Love Yourself … Have a deep sincere love for yourself.
“You can’t love someone if you don’t love yourself first” – Kay
To love yourself is to value your opinion of yourself over the opinion of others on you. Allowing you to life your life based on your standards. Live your life, chase your dreams but be thankful for what you have. Keep in mind what you do things for because those things such as family are the things you should always be thankful for.
